I would say the story of Pattaya

The Tigerline Experience by hn.

Pattaya’s name progressed coming from the march of Phraya Tak (later King Taksin) and his soldiers coming from Ayutthaya to Chanthaburi. This took location ahead of the break of the past capital to the Burmese invaders in 1767.

When his military got at the location of what is now Pattaya, he encountered the troops of Nai Klom, who made an effort to intercept him. When the two leaders met face to face, Nai Klom was awed by Phraya Tak’s dignified fashion and his army’s strict discipline. He then surrendered without having a fight. The place the two armies confronted each other was termed Thap Phraya, which means the Army of the Phraya. This was later changed to Phatthaya, which happens to mean the wind blowing coming from the southwest to the northeast at the starting of the rainy season. Today the city is publicly know as Pattaya.

For centuries, Pattaya was a tiny fishing town. But a change came about on April 26, 1961, when the first group of about 100 American servicemen who were fighting in the Vietnam War showed up in Pattaya for relaxation. From this beginning, Pattaya was a common seaside resort which now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. Fishermen’s huts along the beach were replaced by resort hotel and shopping malls. Fishing vessels were adapted to get tourism boats.

Pattaya intromission

Pattaya is a modern holidaymaker hangout on the North Gulf Seashore of Eastmost Thailand, situated 150 kilometer sou’-east of Bangkok. Bars and go-go dancing is what Pattaya is better-known for, but local government agencies has taken attempts to offer to a greater extent family-friendly attractions and activities, and specialist Meeting and golfing facilities. Even though the sex bussines in Pattaya is making well, the resort as well appeal to local folks and tourists from far and wide.
Endeavors by the local federal agencies over the recent few years have built the quality of the beaches, unfortunately the drives are not much when compared with the high standards of other beach destinations in the land, and over-development has long since wrecked many of the natural appealingness the area once had. Yet, the overplus of hotels and guest houses, and comfortable access from the capital and airport, make it a fashionable weekend getaway. Taking care of close to 5 million tourist a year, Pattaya has allot to do and the dining choices are enough. Many expatiats live in Pattaya which tots to the a intresting atheistical make up.

Two Chinese tourists killed in speedboat collision at Thai resort
Dec 2, 2009

Bangkok - Two Chinese tourists were killed and 16 injured when their speedboat was hit by another tourist boat in the Thai seaside resort of Pattaya Wednesday, said police.

A boat loaded with at least 30 Chinese tourists returning from the small Koh Lan island to the resort town was hit square on by another speedboat carrying British tourists.

‘We are investigating, but we believe that all the injured and dead were from the boat carrying Chinese tourists,’ said police captain Yothsapong Kuldilok of the Pattaya Tourist Police.

The Nation newspaper said one tourist was missing, but police could not confirm the report.

Boating accidents frequently happen in the busy waters along the Pattaya coast as speeding passenger boats, sailboats, parasail boats, towed rubber fun-boats, jet-skis and swimmers try to avoid each other, consular officials in the resort said.

Pattaya has been on my must-visit list for quite sometime. The city has varied attractions ranging from parks to zoos, sports to nightlife, etc. It is famous for its Thai massages and food specialties. It is the ideal getaway destination. It also serves as an ideal venue for world-class conventions, seminars and meetings. I was looking up the Web for Pattaya hotels since I had to arrange for my accommodation. I stumbled upon a classy, luxury hotel in Pattaya. I was so impressed by the site itself that I immediately decided to book myself. The hotel is located on a secluded stretch at the northern tip of Pattaya Bay. It is set within a garden enclave. You can easily access the many attractions of Pattaya. I am really grateful to the hotel and their staff for making my holiday so exciting and pleasurable. It was a heavenly experience. The spacious suites, panoramic sea views, private balconies, the finest dining venues- the hotel had it all! My week long stay in Pattaya helped me recharge my batteries. This experience will remain etched in my mind forever.

MERCURE PATTAYA -restaurant-4 by yoyotaiwan

Two Romanian citizens have been arrested at a popular hotel in Pattaya in relation to a credit card skimming and duplication scam recently.

Pattaya, 5th of November 2009 (PDN): Allegedly two Romanian born Tourists have been arrested in Pattaya at the “DC Hill Hotel” whilst in possession of two stolen ATM cards and some high tech skimming equipment, believed to have been used to read credit and bank account numbers from ATM’s across Pattaya for use in a card duplication scam.

Immigration Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Chatchawal Suksomchit told a packed press conference that the two Romanian men a, Lazar Traian Daniel, 40 and Constantine George Marin, 34, were arrested at the “DC Hill Hotel” in Pattaya recently.

The two men were arrested following complaints by Kasikorn Bank and Bangkok Bank that 2 Caucasian foreigners had been using forged debit and credit cards to withdraw cash and buy goods around the Pattaya City area within the last three months. It is believed that with continued persistent efforts of co-operation between the banks of Thailand, the police and the general public we will eventually see an end to this continuing problem of credit card theft in Pattaya.

October in Thailand is the end of the rainy season, signalling a cool period of weather across the country. This might well have arrived at just the right time as far as Thailand’s politicians are concerned since much of this month has seen them exhaling a lot of hot air over issues such as climate change, Thai Railways and the ASEAN summit in Hua Hin. Sadly this month has also seen HM the King hospitalised were he currently remains although the latest reports suggest he is on his way to recovery.

Thailand has once again hosted an ASEAN summit amid huge security, following the disaster that surrounded a similar conference in Pattaya early this year. This time Hua Hin was chosen, quite a clever choice of location in my opinion, with its royal connections. HM the King has a palace there and it has always been considered a no go area as regards political demonstration for this reason.

With thousands of police and military deployed on security duties, events outside the conference location passed without incident. While inside and out intense debate was created when it was revealed that the Cambodian leader might well offer a refuge for Thaksin Shinawatra, the ex-Prime Minister of Thailand, in Cambodia. With relationships between the two countries already strained over a border dispute this suggestion only served to add more fuel to the fire.

With all the hot air around at the conference it is perhaps appropriate to mention that earlier in the month Bangkok hosted a climate change conference at which the delegates remained cool in their air conditioned rooms but achieved absolutely nothing in the green sense.

Hua Hin also made the news in early October when a State Railway of Thailand(SRT) express train travelling North to Bangkok derailed just South of the city (Hua Hin). With several people killed in the accident the hunt for a scapegoat to hang the blame on quickly became the focus of media attention. The driver of the locomotive who allegedly fled the scene (unsubstantiated) was soon in the spotlight, with suggestions that he fell asleep and missed a danger signal. With headlines like, “Death Railway Thailand-SRT needs to take action,” the SRT and its operating procedures also came under the media spotlight.

The subsequent witch hunt led to strike action by SRT Union members who complained that drivers were asked to work long shifts with only one rest day every two weeks. They also highlighted the poor state of SRT rolling stock and locomotives refusing to drive them. A resolution finally seems to have been found and trains are now running normally but not before the Thai government threatened to use military and retired drivers to man the loco’s. Once again calls were heard for the privatisation of the SRT.

Just how important HM the King is to Thailand, its people and their economy was also demonstrated this month when, following wild speculation about the monarchs health, the Stock Exchange of Thailand(SET) and the Thai Baht crashed for a few days. Fortunately for everyone concerned HM the King continues to recover in hospital in Bangkok and the rumour mongers are being investigated. The SET and Baht have also recovered. Although the Baht has weakened a little.

Finally for today with all this talk of hot air, a word about the weather. This week has seen a shift in wind direction from SW to NE which heralds the arrival of the NE Monsoon or Cool Season here in Thailand. For those of us living here and for visiting tourists the promise of cool mornings (very cool in the North), clear blue skies, no rain to speak of and a humidity level of around 60% for three months are indeed a treat to be enjoyed especially after a rather hot, humid and wet October in Thailand.

FOT's Sales manager Conference DSCF3013 by Ford APA

An unnamed Thai man found himself at Pattaya Police Station on the evening of the 5th December accused of filming a young girl whilst she was on the toilet at a restaurant on Sukhumvit Road. Also at the scene, were the accusers, Khun Somwong, his wife and 9 year daughter. According to the girl, she went to visit the restroom at the restaurant and the suspect who was at a nearby table followed her. Whilst she was in the cubicle, he apparently climbed the wall and started filming her with his mobile phone camera. She screamed for help and the man made a quick exit as the police were being called. Later he was stopped at a police checkpoint in his Mitsubishi sedan and taken back to the station for questioning. There he denied the charge and as there was no evidence on the mobile phone camera, the man offered to end the affair by donating 5,000 baht to the family, which after a few minutes deliberation they decided to accept. The man was released and the family went on their merry way, stomachs full and 5,000 baht the richer.

Pattaya, December 4 [PATTAYA ONE NEWS] : Just after 7pm on Thursday Night, Police Captain Patipat from Dongtan Police Sub-Station received an urgent call to attend the Kanya’s Romantic Garden Bar and Restaurant (Kanya’s Romantic Garden Restaurant/Jomtien) located in Soi Chayapreuk in Jomtien to investigate the apparent murder of the German Owner.

Rescue Services soon arrived, but were too late to assist Mr. Peter Alfons Schroth aged 48 from Germany.

He was lying on the ground at the front of the main bar located at the rear of the building.

Mr. Schroth had been stabbed 5 times, in his back, his left side, his stomach and in his chest and was pronounced dead-at-the-scene.

Khun Galaya aged 48, the wife of the victim, saw the attack take place and revealed the name of the alleged attacker as Mr. Timo who is also a German National.

Khun Galaya explained that the pair entered into a verbal altercation, during which Mr. Timo produced a knife from his bag and attacked Mr. Schroth.

She was unaware of the reason behind the argument but did suggest that Mr. Timo was a drug addict and would ask for money from the victim on many occasions, presumably to purchase drugs.

Police were given the last known address of Mr. Timo and were able to locate him at the Chaopraya Resort in Soi 17, South Pattaya.

Mr. Timo Bloch aged 30 was arrested and found to be carrying a single Yabba Tablet and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.

The suspect was taken to Pattaya Police Station and placed behind bars for a time to allow the effects of any narcotics to wear off.

He is expected to be charged with murder pending further enquiries on Friday.
